To pull off this year's shoot, Sydney and I solicited Melissa from Frenchies Floral and Shauna of Salon Edge to help bring the vision to life. Last year we nearly drown during our shoot. Waiting on the weather to clear, the opportunity never came! Plus our schedules didn't align, and with evening daylight hours dwindling, we ran like bats out of Hell to the mine ruins at Treadwell after work one day. Dripping from head to toe in 38 degree rain, pretending not to be terrified of ghosts from the past, we shot as quick as possible so as not to wreck our shoes and drown our floral arrangements. Half successful? I think so, check out last year's post here!
So this year, Sydney and Melissa worked together to create a gorgeous set. That way no sideways torrential downpour could wreck our looks. Total success! Melissa used a mix of florals and wild foliage to reflect October vibes, while Sydney added the neon and Victorian candle sticks inside her mid-remodel bedroom.
Inspiration for these outfits came from previous years along with a friend who is rooted in the spiritual world of the Middle East. Indulging on the riches of modern witch culture I envisioned us being educated, wealthy, sophisticated, and secretive. To be a witch means you have studied the literature immensely, and have taken an unconventional route in life. All of these things should be portrayed through style. I mixed velvet and fur, suede with silk, animal prints with embroidery, denim and oversized cardigans, plus some sparkle. I then pulled us all together with matching crowns.
Shauna styled our hair with braids and ratted curls to give us an untamed and wild nature. Check out our studio session and some of the behind the scenes shots of this season's most anticipated shoot!
Cheers,
